
Marilyn Gale (Barnes) DeVetter Dec. 19,
1939 - Jan. 10, 2011 33 yr Resident of San Leandro Gale passed peacefully after
a long battle with lung disease. She is survived by her husband Gordon of 50
years; their four children, Sharon, Steve, Doug, and Linda; daughters-in-law,
Wendy and Renee; grandchildren, Dawn, Jennifer, Spencer, and Holly; brothers,
Michael and Gary; and extended family and friends. Born and raised in Ceres, CA,
she graduated from Ceres High School and Samuel Merritt School of Nursing. Gale
was a registered nurse, specializing in neonatal intensive care, where she
applied her passion for caring for others and providing parenting education. She
was a devoted volunteer to the PTA at the school, county and state levels,
numerous ministries at St. Felicitas church, the Navy Wives Club of America, and
many others. A devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, Gale was
very proud of her family. She loved family gatherings, camping trips and outings
with friends. She loved to travel with Gordon and friends, and has seen the
world by plane, train, cruise ship and RV. She especially loved the ocean, beach
and the mountains. Gale had many talents and enjoyed sharing them. She loved
music and sang with the church choir and Hayward Little Theater Chorus. She was
a great creative writer, and enjoyed painting, crafts, and applying her artistic
talents in the garden. A memorial service will be held on Jan. 17 at 11am at St.
Felicitas Church at 1662 Manor Blvd. in San Leandro. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to the UCSF Foundation (Box 0248 San Francisco, CA
94143-0248), directed to fight Lung Disease.
